Summer is a good time to start cleaning out the tackroom and thinking about the fall tack sales in New Jersey that benefit therapeutic riding facilities.
Riding with HEART at 639 County Road 513, Pittstown has its sale Oct. 4-5. It accepts, “anything for the horse, rider, barn, or farm,” including any type of saddle, jackets, blankets, tools, horse-themed household goods and books.
Donated items are accepted year round at the farm from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Mondays-Fridays and Saturdays from noon 3- p.m. Email tacksale@ridingwithheart.org to schedule a different drop-off time or a pickup for a big donation within an hour’s drive. All donations are tax deductible.
The sale runs from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 4 and noon-3 p.m. Oct. 5, when nearly all items will be half-price. Proceeds benefit Riding with HEART’s 501(c)(3) program and horses.
In Oldwick, Mane Stream, a provider of adaptive riding and therapy services, is seeking donations of horse-related items for its annual tack sale Nov. 9 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at 83 Old turnpike Road.
Donations of new or gently used tack, riding gear, and equestrian-themed items are welcome. In addition to bridles, saddles, blankets, tack boxes, or outgrown boots and breeches, equestrian jewelry, horse models or knick-knacks are also accepted.
All proceeds from the tack sale directly benefit Mane Stream’s programs, including adaptive riding, therapy services (OT, PT, SLP, counseling), summer camp and specialized initiatives such as “Horses for Healing: Cancer and Parkinson’s Disease.”
Mane Stream offers transformative experiences for children and adults with physical, developmental, emotional and medical challenges.
